• Provisional diagnosis is a preliminary diagnosis made by a doctor based on initial information like a patient's symptoms and medical history, but which is not yet confirmed and may require further tests or investigations to reach a definitive diagnosis; essentially, it's a "working diagnosis" used to guide initial treatment until more information is available.
• Principal diagnosis refers to the medical condition that is ultimately determined to be the primary reason for a patient's hospital admission or healthcare encounter, established after a thorough evaluation including examinations, tests, and consultations, essentially signifying the main cause for seeking medical attention; it is often used for coding and billing purposes in healthcare systems. The primary diagnosis refers to the patient condition that demands the most provider resources during the patient's stay. There is often confusion surrounding primary and principal diagnoses and, consequently, the terms are commonly used interchangeably. In BH, this (Pricipal) entry field is for both Principal and Primary diagnosis.
• Additional diagnosis refers to a medical condition that exists alongside the principal/primary diagnosis of a patient, meaning it's a co-occurring health issue that may affect treatment or length of stay, but isn't the main reason for the patient's visit; often also called a "secondary diagnosis" in medical terminology.
• "Short" is a list of about 3,000 diseases often diagnosed by Doctors. "Long" list is full ICD10 Diagnosis. It is over 9300. At the BH Consultation form, by default the Short is ticked. If a search for a diagnosis is not found in the Short list search for it in the Long list. If a diagnosis is not found in both lists submit it to the Facility Administrator, who will forward it to BH Developer.
• The entry field is an autocomplete field, as you start to type in the field, the browser displays related options to select.
• Select the approprait diagnosis and click on the Add button.
• Repeat the last two steps for additional diagnosis.
• Note: Recording diagnosis are mandatory for Insurance Companies
